Christian Concourse Ministry Newsletter – September 2025

Dear Christian Friends,

Dar and I say, “Hello! And God Bless each and every one of you, our friends and our supporters!” Thank you, sincerely, for your assistance in prayer and finances to further this work for our heavenly Father on behalf of the elderly and infirm population all across our wonderful nation. We are constantly aware of the vital part each of you have in the furtherance of our mission: to freely share effective Christian materials and resources for use in ministry to long-term care residents. Because you give we are able to make regular trips to the Post Office with packages of hymn booklets, Christian Christmas Carol booklets, CD’s, DVD’s and Scripture booklets (see the menu at the top of this page)! With your support we maintain a website full of free ideas, guidelines, tools and resources for nursing home ministry.

The mission field our Savior has placed us in is wide and growing in our Country (and all over the world) as a result of the well-known phenomenon of the “baby-boomer” effect. And, beyond the fact that the care-home population is elderly and/or infirm, the types of people encountered there are as diverse as the general public is in each community that surrounds the facility: men and women; well-off financially and poor; people familiar with the Bible and people who have no exposure to God’s Word. The Christians are subject to be from any one of the many denominations and sects of Christianity. Some of the Christians are nominal believers, some are fervent followers of Christ (and everything in between). The likes and dislikes related to food and entertainment and music and personalities and room temperature and lighting, and clothing (to name a few) are as numerous and diverse as there are residents.

Can you imagine how difficult it is to keep 100 nursing home residents comfortable and satisfied? And overlay that task with the physical and mental maladies that are raging in their population? Just to give us perspective, according to “AI”, one study found that the national ratio of full-time staff to residents is 29 nursing staff to 100 residents!

We are under no illusions concerning the logistical nightmare we have thrown our nursing home staff into! How easy would it be for any of us to properly care – simultaneously – for three nursing home residents – for 8 hours every day – and manage a “normal” life at home? Obviously, it is possible, because it is being done every day all over our nation. But for how long can one individual hold up to the physical and emotional stress? And, how long can a nursing home resident hold up to the constant short-comings in the personal care they need every day?

With all these technicalities we are trying to demonstrate how vital it is to provide sincere and effective Christian ministry to augment the care that nursing homes provide to their residents. The residents, the staff, and the family members need the Christian message.

We get phone calls regularly from all over the United States from Christian volunteers and staff of nursing homes asking for our free ministry materials. It is such a blessing to reassure them that all our resources are actually free and, God helping us, when they run low in hymn or Scripture booklets, just call and we will send them more! We can only guess how many thousands of elderly and infirm Christians and inquiring unbelievers have found encouragement in their faith while holding one of these Christ-centered tools in their feeble hands! Only the Lord knows how many staff members and family members have been blessed as they sang these hymns with the residents.

Again we say from our heart, we are grateful for your support. Your donations are such an encouragement. Your prayers are such a source of strength and comfort to us! In the face of our own little struggles of life, we are lifted up and pushed along by your help! God bless each and every one.

Christian Love From Us to You,

Jerry and Dar Johnson
